2016 was a fair year for gaming. It wasn’t bad but might have been better. 2017 is shaping up to be much more promising however. Here are the top five most anticipated games of 2017:
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Nintendo’s trump card. After a few delays (likely due to Nintendo Switch being in development) we are finally getting another Legend of Zelda. A few new features to look forward to include: a sandbox style gameplay, greater emphasis on strategy and a HD resolution which is a first for Zelda.
Mass Effect Andromeda
The game takes place 600 years after the conclusion of the Original Mass effect trilogy and has a brand new story. From what has been revealed about the game so far, we know that it will be similar to the previous games but with many improvements. The lack of new features isn’t a bad thing however because if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Here’s one you may not know about. Ubisoft have finally done the right thing and gave the AC series a much needed break. Most likely due to 2015’s Syndicate’s poor sales. It’s believed that the next instalment of the AC universe is slated for a 2017 release. Here’s some of the game’s tasty rumours: Codenamed “Empire” the game will take place in Egypt in a time before all other AC games, it won’t have any recycled content (animations etc.) and the map will be far bigger than Black Flag.
South Park: The Fractured but Whole
Forget your Iron Mans vs your Captain Americas. There is a far greater war brewing. The Conflict between arch enemies: The Coon and Mysterion. The two super-heroes form alliances and go head to head in the ultimate conflict for justice. The game is a follow up to the successful Stick of Truth. Some of the new features include: updated combat system, 4-man party, greater exploration and new classes.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Arguably the most anticipated game of 2017. Rockstar are as good at keeping secrets as they are at making games (very good) so very little is known outside of what the game’s trailer shows. Some of the potential rumours involve a three protagonist campaign (much like GTAV) and the story being a prequel to the first Red Dead. Tech Radar have also reported a leaked picture of the potential map to the game.
There are many more games I could mention but this is my top five. It wouldn’t be unreasonable to think that some of these games might get delayed and not come out in 2017 but never fear, 4 out of the 5 games on the list have already been pushed back from earlier dates so it’s likely we will indeed see them in 2017.
